The Taft School John L. Vogelstein Dormitory is a new 4-story building, which incorporates bedrooms and living spaces for students, faculty apartments and offices, and several classrooms into a 4-story, steel structure with light-weight decking, traditional brick veneer and slate roof. The building is tied to an existing residence hall by a second-story enclosed connector bridge and is designed to match the character of the surrounding campus.
The design utilized custom wood arched doors, buttressed wall details and cast stone for copings, window surrounds and band coursing. This project was coordinated to minimize disruption at the school while maintaining strict scheduling deadlines. The finished building provides housing for 47 students and four faculty families.
