Prior to construction of this new school, Oxford sent half of its students to private schools in Trumbull, Westport and Waterbury and the other half to public schools in Monroe and Seymour.  The new school houses  750 students and includes a natatorium, 575-seat auditorium, gymnasium, media center and core academic facilities.

Three months of the aggressive 22-month schedule established by the team was dedicated to the massive earthwork needed to prepare the site.  With 65 acres of densely forested land over shallow bedrock and an elevation rise of more than 500 feet from the nearest major road, the site presented many challenges.

Nearly two miles of water and sewer line had to be run to bring services to the site along with a sewage pumping station.  In the mean time, the lack of water at the site meant that water had to be trucked in during the majority of the construction.
