The Trans-Alaska Pipeline crosses a 4,800’ high pass in the Brooks Range, spans the Yukon River on a 2,300’ long steel box girder structure and climbs a 3,300’ high pass in the Chugach Mountains. At $8 billion, it was the largest privately funded construction project up to that time.
